Strategies for the utilization of scientific information for decisionmaking on health equity

In this workshop we propose to examine and develop new strategies for using information technologies with the goal of including users in the process of finding and improving the use of evidence so that the decision making process has more information available. We will focus mainly on the use of the Virtual Health Library Euidad (BVS-Euidad) and proposals such as Cooperation Cochrane-Compbell capable of making decisions regarding health equality. BVS-Euidad forms part of DECIDES a strategy for technical cooperation designed by the Investigations Coordination Program of the Pan-American Health Organization. BVS-Euidad takes advantage of the opportunities created by the new information and communication technologies and its fundamental goal is to broaden the participation of different social actors in the production dissemination and application of crucial information in order to help them assume a proactive attitude in the improvement of individual and communal health.
