Experimental Investigation of Bi-2223/Ag Superconducting Tape Joints

2018
We have developed a manufacturing method for superconducting joints for Bi-2223/Ag tapes (DI-BSCCO Type-H, Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd., Yokosuka, Japan). The tapes' superconducting joints were fabricated under pressure and heat treatment processes. The critical currents of these joints under relevant temperature conditions were measured to investigate their applicability to superconducting devices such as magnetic shields and superconducting magnets using current transport tests. In addition, the critical currents were investigated in a parallel magnetic field to the tape surface up to 5 T at 4 and 20 K. We will report the results of these experiments.
