Computational study of a compact non-invasive bunch length monitor and shaper
2014
A novel non-invasive, near real-time cavity detector used to monitor the bunch length profile of photo-emitted electron bunches was simulated using the parallelized fully electromagnetic finite-difference-time-doman (FDTD) particle-in-cell (PIC) code ICEPIC [1]. Simulations were used to predict the cavity response to a variety of bunch lengths and profiles, and to predict the efficacy of injecting a signal into the cavity to actively alter the shape profile and FWHM of bunches passing through the detector. Simulation results will be compared with experimental data [2].
