Almost ten years after president Evo Morales Ayma approved in Potosi the National Plan of Industrialization of Evaporitic Resources of the Uyuni Salt Flat, the brand new Bolivian Lithium Beds (YLB) exhibits a number of technological advancements which are unheard of in the region, and which are the result of a productive model based on the sovereignty over natural resources. After visiting the Battery and Cathode Pilotage Center developed by the State enterprise in La Palca, Potosi region, the authors interview engineer Luis Alberto Echazu Alvarado, historical National Manager of Evaporitic Resources of COMIBOL up until his appointment as Viceminister of Energetic High Technologies in early 2017.
