Response function of absolute ionization chamber in energy range of 4-30 MeV

Calculation results are given for the response function of an absolute ionization chamber of aluminum with a front-wall thickness of 7.5 cm for bremsstrahlung with an energy of 4-30 MeV in the presence of absorbers of graphite and aluminum. The correctness of the calculations of the response function was checked by a study of the reaction /sup 63/Cu(/gamma/, n)/sup 62/Cu for which the yield was measured by the activation method using the bremsstrahlung gamma beam of the M-30 microtron of the Institute of Nuclear Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. Cross sections of the reaction were also obtained. The cross sections both with and without the absorber in the beam are in good agreement with one another and with results from the literature which indicates the correctness of the obtained response functions.
