PENYISIHAN MERKURI (Hg) DARI AIR HASIL PENCUCIAN TANAH MENGGUNAKAN ADSORBEN GAC TERIMPREGNASI Fe DAN Ce

2020
Berdasarkan PP No 101 Tahun 2014 tentang pengolahan limbah B3, baku mutu merkuri pada TCLP A 0,3 ppm dan TCLP B 0,05 ppm. Mercury is widely used freely in the process of amalgamization in small scale gold mining (ASGM), one of which is in Lebak Regency, Banten. Mercury can undergo transformation so that it can increase its mobility and toxicity. This is a concern because it can be a potential pollution on the ground surface, ground water, absorption by plants and bioaccumulation in the food chain. In a preliminary study carried out the process of remediation of mercury in the soil with the method of soil washing using KI solvent. However, in the processing using the soil washing method, the washing water needs further treatment before finally being discharged because it has mercury concentrations exceeding the quality standard (1-3 ppm) so that further processing needs to be done ie adsorption using GAC adsorbent impregnated with Fe and Ce with a batch system. Based on PP No. 101 of 2014 concerning B3 waste treatment, the mercury quality standard at TCLP A is 0.3 ppm and TCLP B is 0.05 ppm. Experiments show that the batch system has the best value of adsorption capacity in the type of GAC-Ce adsorbent of 0.087 mg / g and the concentration of mercury has decreased to reach 0.443 ppm. The mercury adsorption process using GAC, GAC-Fe and GAC-Ce is more suitable to be modeled with the Freundlich isotherm model. The mercury adsorption process uses GAC and GAC-Fe following pseudo second-order kinetics while GAC-Ce follows second-order kinetics.
