Combustion Mechanism of Composite Modified Double-base Propellant Containing 3,4-Dinitrofurazanfuroxan(DNTF)

2014
The flame structure, combustion wave temperature distribution, appearance and element distribution of flameout surfaces of composite modified double-base (CMDB) propellant containing 3, 4-dinitrofurazan-furoxan (DNTF) were investigated by a single color frame amplification photography technology, miniature thermocouples and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)-energy spectrometer. Results show that the flame structure of CMDB propellant containing 10% of DNTF is premixed flame and the combustion wave structure is similar with that of double base propellant. The flame structure of CMDB propellant containing 50% of DNTF is diffusion flame and the combustion wave structure is similar with that of AP-HTPB composite propellant. The reduction of carbon substance on the burning surface is the main reason of increasing the pressure exponents of CMDB propellant containing DNTF.
