Floating-point operation processing device and operation processing method

PURPOSE: To shorten the processing time by forecasting execution of normalization and/or rounding processing in accordance with two first bits and executing normalization and rounding processing not sequentially but in parallel. CONSTITUTION: A control logic circuit 11 activates a signal select norm (normalization selection) or select round (rouding selection) in accordance with the check result of a 2-bit format and the exponent difference. There are many possible combinations, and a line to be activated is determined by the result. Thus, normalization processing and rounding processing which are executed conventionally sequentially can be executed in parallel. Parallel processings shorten the time of prescribed processings, and as the result, the overall processing time is shortened. COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
