Traffic Safety Characteristics of Curved Section of Two-Lane Highway Based on Track-Cross Theory

2009
In order to understand the traffic safety characteristics of a curved section of a two-lane highway better and find the key factors affecting curved section traffic safety, this research was conducted.. Firstly, the necessary and sufficient condition for traffic accidents occurring in curved sections of two-lane highways are found by using the "track-cross theory", then the track offset as a key index is determined. Secondly, the track offset characteristics of a curved section of the highway is quantitatively researched. At last, the vehicle speed, vehicle type, road marking and direction proportion coefficient of curved section are found to be key factors impacting the traffic accident.
