A Significance Approach Between Patterns of Water River Flow Rate to the Exploitation of Power Generated in Small Hydropower System

2017
To date, there has been clear convincing evidence on practicing small hydropower system producing from 1MW to 30MW electricity due to demand for rural area application. With an abundant number of highland areas and rivers, networks have made Malaysia be one of the potential countries in developing the small hydropower plant system. Even though there is less implementation in Peninsular Malaysia, this small hydropower system will provide more benefits in electricity generation especially in Run-of-River schemes. One of the factors affecting the generation of the power output is water river flow rates and this paper addresses the significant study of the water river flow rates pattern to the generations of the power output of the system. In this study, the water river flow rates were obtained for the whole month of February 2016 which is for 695 hours and used as the primary reference in the analysis. The data were evaluated statistically as a quantitative measurement. This pattern is important as a primary observation on the prediction of the power generated by the small hydropower system and the result showed the water river flow rates are directly proportional to the power output generated by the system.
