Exploring the Source in Translation

2016
This study explores the travelling of ideas and practices from one context to another. Using qualitative data collected at two points in time about the translation of New Age Spirituality (NAS) practices to Israeli public schools, we demonstrate that at the encounter with public schools, NAS practices are molded into a platform supporting diverse and inherently different contexts. Based on these intriguing results, we argue that the properties of the translated source-a factor not discussed in earlier research-form an essential component in the exploration of the translation process.
