COMPOFORJADO DE MATERIALES COMPUESTOS BASE Al-Si, REFORZADOS CON β- SiC Compoforging of Al-Si/β-SiC composite materials

Preliminary morphological characterization of a base Al-Si metal matrix composite, reinforced with β-SiC and manufactured by Compoforging is reported. This technology is and hybrid between the foundry process for particulate metal matrix composites (CMRPs) and the semisolid die-casting. The common properties of this materials are reached because the globular microstructure during the semisolid stirring, with a perfect distribution of the reinforced particles. Then, it is possible to have minimal defects (porosity) during the application of pressures of 60MPa aprox.
