Research on the Relationship Between Field Independence/Dependence Cognitive Style and L2 Teaching and Learning in China:A Review

Over the past two decades and more, research has been on the increase into the relationship between field independence/dependence and Second Language teaching and learning in China. The studies fall into two categories: introductory and empirical. A review of the studies reveals that they are inadequate in both breadth and depth. Suggestions are made as to how future work can be improved. Research results in this field can be applied in Second Language teaching and learning in this country.
