Las lenguas chaqueñas en el archivo franciscano de Tarija (Bolivia)

2020
The Franciscan Archive in Tarija (Bolivia) conserves more than 6,000 folios written between 1771 and 1923 containing linguistic data about Chaco indigenous languages such as Guarani (“Chiriguano”), Wichi (“Vejoz” and “Nocten”) and Toba (Bolivian Toba). After a thorough study of the Franciscan archive, this work presents an exhaustive description of the texts and analyses the singular conditions of their production. The conclusion highlights the dominance of Guarani language in these documents, as well as their relevance as sources for historical linguistics.
