Comparative study on feeding dairy cow with traditional and microbial silage maize straw

2010
The effects of microbial silage sweet maize straw feed on the productivity of dairy have been investigated. The south sweet maize with high-water was treated with microbial silage and conventional silage methods and fed to animals as daily feed. The results showed that the quality of microbial silage maize straw feed was better than that of conventional silage treatment, and it had higher nutritional value and palatability.Under same condition of feeding management and basic daily diet, feeding microbial silage maize straw feed could significantly increase the yield of milk(3.79%) as compared to conventional silage. The daily yield of milk of a dairy cow increased by 0.76 kg with 2.04 Yuan RMB in benefit,as well 622.20 Yuan RMB of annual increase in benefit. Therefore, the use of microbial silage maize straw as a cattle feed can increase the economic benefit considerably.
