STUDIES ON MICROPHALLID TREMATODES FROM CHINA.V.GENUS GYNAECOTYLA,WITH DESCRIPTIONS OF 2 NEW SPECIES

1980
Three species belonging to the genus Gynaecotyla are reported, of these, 2 are new to science and 1 is a new record for China.1. Gynaecotyla beihaiensis, sp. nov. (fig. 1)Equation of Species: v.o.ov≥v.v. atp. =v.v.p.cet.Body flat, tongue-shaped, 0.408—0.634×0.183—0.268 (0.497×0.211) mm, withindistinct cuticular spines. Oral sucker (v.o.) large, 0.046—0.070×0.056—0.088(0.057×0.065) mm. Acetabula double, equal in size, one near the ovary (v.v. atp.),0.035—0.053×0.035—0.053 (0.039×0.039) mm, while the other opposite to it(v.v.p.), 0.035—0.056×0.035—0.056 (0.039×0.039) mm. Genital atrium (cct.)spherical, 0.021—0.042 (0.027) mm, with a large lateral crescent fleshy piece and aamall medial reniform fleshy piece in it. Ovary(ov) slightly lobed, 0.025—0.039×0.039—0.063 (0.030×0.051) mm.Host: Charadrius alexandrinus dealbatus (Swinhoe), Squatarola squatarola(Linne).Location in host: Intestine.Locality: Beihai, Guangxi, and Zhanjiang, Guangdong, China.G. beihaiensis sp. nov. may be distinguished from the other species of the genusby the characteristic equation of species, i.e., a large oral sucker, two moderate ace-tabula of equal size and a small genital atrium.2. Cynaecotyla zhanjiangensis, sp. nov. (fig. 2, 3)Body flat, pear-shaped, 0.264—0.387×0.120—0.229 (0.327×0.166) mm, withdistinct cuticular apines. Oral sucker (v. o.) 0.034—0.042×0.032—0.046 (0.036×0.035) mm. Acetabula double, the large one (v. v. atp.) near the ovary, 0.039-0.056×0.035—0.056(0.047×0.047) mm, the smaller one (v.v.p) near the genitalatrium, 0.025—0.035×0.018—0.028 (0.029×0.025) mm. Genital atrium (cct.) 0.027-0.039×0.028—0.035 (0.033×0.031) mm. In which a large exterior crescent fleshypiece, measuring 25—35μ, and an interior reniform fleshy piece with warty swellingson its surface, measuring 18—28×8—14μ; a sausage-form chitinous piece, measuring18—28×8—14μ, lying between these two fleshy pieces. Ovary (ov) spherical orelliptical, 0.028—0.046×0.032—0.056 (0.036×0.042) mm.Host: Eurynorhynchus pygmeum (Linne), Charadrius alexandrinus dealbatus(Swinhoe).Location in host: Intestine.Locality: Zhanjiang, Guangdong, China. The new species appears to be closely related to G. brisbanensis Deblock et Pear-son, 1968 and G. sp.1 Deblock, 1974, but may be distinguished from them by theequation of species, the extending level of caeca to testes vs. to ovary, and the ratiobetween seminal vesicle and body length (1: 47 vs. 1: 2.5).The type specimens of the above 2 new species are deposited in the;Departmentof Parasitology, Zhongshan Medical College, Guangzhou, China.3. Cynaecotyla bridgmani Deblock, 1974 is a new record for China.
