Joint CMA+DDLMS blind equalization algorithm

Blind equalizer of digital video broadcast-cable(DVB-C) receivers usually use the constant modulus algorithm(CMA) to calculate the initiate coefficients.To avoid the problem of slow convergence this paper presents a fast blind acquisition equalization algorithm to improve the convergence of the conventional CMA.In the acquisition phase,the algorithm simultaneously updates the coefficients using the CMA and the decision-directed least mean square(DDLMS) error.The equalizer performance is improved with no extra multipliers.The convergence rate is analyzed theoretically and simulated with quadratrue amplitude modulation(QAM) signals.The simulations show that the algorithm effectively improves the convergence rate for blind equalization,while guaranteeing satisfying convergence accuracy.
