Structural analysis of conveyor belts. Part I: Analytical approach

Abstract Closed form equations for calculating forces in plies and shear stresses in interplies of conveyor belts are derived. Eigenvalues for 2 to 6 ply belts are calculated. A three-ply conveyor belt is completely analyzed and it is found that at a rubber interply thickness equal to that of the fabric, the interply shear stress would be minimum.
