A comparison of performance and energy intake of commercial layers based on body weight or egg weight.

2000
Abstract Laying hens were sorted into slight, medium, and heavy groups at 25 wk based on either body weight (BW) or egg weight (EW). They remained in these groups for a 10-wk experimental period. There was no difference in egg production among the three groups. Egg weights, feed consumption (FC), and energy intake increased as the 25-wk BW or EW increased.
