Oscillations of the polarization asymmetry in the reaction. pi. /sup -/p/sub up-arrow/. --> pi. /sup 0/n in the region chemically bondtchemically bondless than or equal to3 (GeV/c)/sup 2/

The polarization asymmetry in the reaction ..pi../sup -/p/sub up-arrow/..--> pi../sup 0/n has been measured for the first time up to values chemically bondtchemically bond--3 (GeV/c)/sup 2/ at momentum 40 GeV/c. Oscillations of the asymmetry are observed in the region chemically bondtchemically bondless than or equal to3 (GeV/c)/sup 2/. The results are compared with theoretical models.
