Tracing the conversion of silver sulfide in gold-thiourea complex solution by X-ray diffraction

The crystal phases converted from Ag 2 S by treatment with gold-thiourea complex solution have been followed by X-ray diffraction. Ag 2 S is converted to AgAuS through Ag 2 AuS 2 with an accompaning color change from black to dark red-brown. The conversion rate from Ag 2 S to Ag 2 AuS 2 is greater than that from Ag 2 AuS 2 to AgAuS.
