Losses reduction and energy efficiency in transformers

In this paper some aspects related to energy efficiency in transformers are presented. As energy efficiency is related to the reduction of losses in electric and magnetic circuits, the causes of these losses are identified and some technically feasible solutions for mitigation of such losses are presented, with emphasis on to the use of soft magnetic materials and their properties. Solid state transformers applications in the future smart electrical system is mentioned.
