The method of improving wind power integration based on smart combined heating and cooling systems

2013
China's installed capacity of wind power has soared since 2005 and reached 62.36 GW by the end of 2011. However, only 76.7% of installed capacity of wind power was introduced into the grids in China, and over 10 billion kWh of wind power generation was abandoned in 2011. The intermittence of wind energy and the lack of peak regulation capacity make a great challenge for the large-scale wind power integration. This paper analyses and compares several existing methods of peak regulation for improving wind power integration. Previously, we proposed a method to reduce the peak regulation capacity for wind power integration, which suggests that the heat capacity of cogeneration units is reduced so as to obtain a larger schedulable range of power generation of units, and the end users utilize heat pump to meet their residual heat demands due to the lack of heat production from cogeneration units. On the basis of this method, a smart combined heating and cooling system distributed in individual householders is put forward, which can be controlled by smart-grid techniques and can realize the proposed method conveniently.
