The changes resulting from globalization and the dissemination of information technology enabled the society to understand its Market power and its influence on organizations. This empowerment of society triggers the social pressure on companies to adopt socially responsible practices. In the banking industry, however, the demands of society are not as noticeable as in other sectors and there are few studies on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices in banks. In addition to environmental issues, in studies of CSR in banks should consider social issues involving the care and attention to employees and suppliers, open communication with customers, partners and employees and ethics in relations with society. Studies on CSR in banks should also consider the economic impacts caused by the banking sector, which is regarded as a leading sector in terms of contribution to the economic stability. Thus, this study aimed determines the stage of Development of CSR in a unit of Banco do Brasil, located in the municipality of Areia, Paraiba. For this, the study performed a quantitative analysis on the data collected through a structured questionnaire. The results point out that although the unit of the “Banco do Brasil” presentes some concern with CSR, there are few actions that go beyond any legal obligation.
