Design of an All-reflective Line Based Spectrometer for Optical Coherence Tomography

2020
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an interferometric technique for diagnostic medical imaging. The multidisciplinary nature of OCT is one of the reasons that there has been so many innovations in this field with more still to come[1]. Since OCT spans a wide range of applications, there is a huge need for designing new OCT systems to cover unmet needs. The main contribution of this work is to design and optimize a new all-reflective spectrometer system compared to traditional refractive optics. In this all-reflective design, chromatic aberration is reduced significantly. Moreover, the effective focal length of the spectrometer mirror is no longer wavelength related. In the following, the spectrometer design of our approach and its analysis will be explained and discussed.
