MOTIVATION AND ACTION IN HECKHAUSEN & KUHL The motivation has achieved wide publicity given its relevance in learning and academic performance. Generally refers to the action taken by personal taste, or the thing done because we want to, voluntarily. In the psychology of motivation concept has a long and complex history and that this process is addressed by the various research areas. The question about motivation refers to the reason why the person decides to act in a certain way or to a particularly direction. Dynamically considered, that is, in terms of action, includes all activities that allow the subject achieve a particular purpose, and that although it may be more or less conscious, always refers to a mental representation. Within motivational psychology, action has generally been studied in terms of its strenght and persistence, but rarely in terms of its controlling processes. This communication addresses the work of Heckausen (1991) in which it tries to clarify different perspectives within the psychology of motivation in order to achieve a comprehensive approach, integrating the different lines of research, focusing on the commonalities.
