Natural convection in an oblique porous cavity with non-uniform heating

2016
The present numerical study investigates natural convective flow and heat transfer in an oblique cavity filled with a heat-absorbing or heat-generating porous medium. The sinusoidal temperature is applied on the left wall of the cavity while the right wall is maintained at a lower temperature. The bottom and top walls are kept to be adiabatic. The Darcy model is adopted for fluid flow through the porous medium. The governing equations are solved using the finite difference method with various values of walls inclination, internal heat generation parameter and Darcy-Rayleigh number. The results are presented in the form of isotherms, streamlines and Nusselt numbers. The heat transfer rate of the oblique cavity is more enhanced at high Darcy-Rayleigh number. Also, the heat transfer rate decreases upon the raise of the internal heat generation parameter.
