Parameterization of angular correlations in double photoionization to the neon 2p4 1Se ionic state

1995
Abstract Measurements of the neon 2p 4 1 S e triple differential cross section of photoionization have been performed under experimental setups differing in such conditions as the electron kinetic energies (equal energy sharing), the plane in which the electrons are detected, the degree of linear polarization, and the direction of the first electron. The experimental results are compared with a model which parameterizes the relative magnitudes and phases for the esep and edep continuum channels in addition to an electron correlation factor. The model is found to reproduce the data rather well, and dependencies of the angular correlation pattern upon the polarization of the incident light and the contributions from and interference between the continuum channels are discussed. The fitted values for the relative transition strength and phase between the two continuum channels disagree significantly with those of a Hartree-Fock calculation, raising questions about the interpretation of the parameterization.
