SITUACIONES ESTRESANTES Y SÍNTOMAS DE TENSIÓN EN MUJERES QUE VIVEN CON CONSUMIDORES DE ALCOHOL

2021
Alcohol is the substance that causes the most health problems in the population in Mexico. In addition, it causes harm to those around consumers. Women are the most affected by the drinking of others. Objective. Verify the relationship between stressful situations and symptoms of tension in women who live with alcohol users. Method. Cross-sectional, descriptive correlational study, with a sample of 147 women who lived with a relative who has an excessive consumption of alcohol. Results. It was found that there is a positive and significant relationship between stressful situations caused by a relative's alcohol consumption and symptoms of tension in the participants (rs = .241, p = .002). In addition, the results of logistic regression models showed positive effects of stressful situations on the symptoms of physical tension (β = .006, p = .023) and psychological (β = .006, p = .032). Conclusion. Experiencing stressful situations due to living with a consumer is related to a greater number of symptoms of physical and psychological tension. This contributes to improving the understanding of the problems that are generated in families with alcohol problems.
