PRESENCE OF LIQUOR CONTACTING NEURONS IN REGENERATING SPINAL CORD OF LIZARD
2013
SUMMARY During tail regeneration in Lacerta sicula Rafinesque and L. muralis Laurenti (Lacertidae Sauria Reptilia) some cerebro-spinal fluid contacting neurons (CSFCN) are reformed, and have been identified from their ultrastructural characters. Neither their specific sensorial activity (chemioceptors, osmoceptors or mechanoceptors), nor their secretory role in stimulating tail regeneration are yet known.
