Chromosomal locations of the genes controlling phosphorus use efficiency and related traits in wheat seedling.

The 'Chinese spring-Egyptian Red'wheat substitution lines were used to determine the chromosomal locations of genes controlling phosphorous use efficiency(PUE) under different water and phosphorus stress treatments.Genetic analysis of these traits was also studied.The results indicated that chromosome substitutions 7A and 7D may carry genes with improving PUE under Hoagland solution(WP),Hoagland solution with 10% PEG-6000(-WP),Hoagland solution with 1/2P(W-P) treatments.Genetic analysis revealed that PUE with higher heritability and genetic advance as well relative genetic advance,which indicated that the variation of PUE were mainly due to genetic factors but not environmental factors.Therefore,genetic breeding of PUE should be selected in early generations.The results can provide some information for further genetic research on PUE in wheat.
