Effects of Spermidine on Organic Osmoregulation Substance in Leaves of Maize Seedlings under Osmotic Stress

2010
This paper studied the influence of spermidine(Spd) on seedling growth and the content of organic osmoregulation substances of the maize cultivar of Nongda 108(drought-tolerant) and Xundan 20(drought-sensitive).These results showed that after osmotic stress treatment,Xundan 20 was injured more serious than Nongda108.Exogenous Spd treatment in Xundan 20 resulted in obvious increased not only the relative water content and the relative dry weight growth rate, but also the content of proline and soluble sugar,The effect of relieve stress was obvious better than Nongda108.These results indicate that exogenous Spd treatment could enhance the tolerance of maize seedlings to osmotic stress, maybe via increasesing the content of organic penetration substances.
