In an induction heating device with an induction coil for an induction hob, the induction coil is flat and formed in a plane and at least has a circumferential coil turn of coil wire on. The outer contour of the induction coil and the outermost coil turn is approximately trapezoidal in shape with two opposite sides of equal length, which are preferably formed straight, and with two different lengths of short sides between which are preferably slightly convex.
