Preparation and characterization of MnII, CoII, NiII, CuII and ZnII kanamycin complexes

Abstract Binuclear complexes of manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) with kanamycin sulphate have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1 H NMR, electronic and ESR spectra in order to throw more light on their structures. The spectral results obtained indicate octahedral geometry around manganese(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II), distorted octahedral geometry around copper(II) and tetrahedral geometry around zinc (II) ions.
