The effect of curcumin on the expression of SREBP-2 in HepG2

Objective To investigate the effects of curcumin on SREBP-2 expression in the human hepatoma cell line HepG2 and find out the mechanism of curcumin in lower-cholestrol at the SREBPs regulation pathway level.Methods Western blotting and Real time PCR was used to identify the effect of curcumin on the expression of SREBP-2 in the HepG2.Results The nuclear segment of active SREBP-2(bHLH) was elevated after 20 mol/L curcumin treatment in the HepG2 by Western blotting.Conclusion Curcumin up-regulates the expression of the SREBP-2 in the HepG2.
