Multiple Beam Klystron Research at Calabazas Creek Research

2006
Calabazas Creek Research, Inc. (CCR) is developing multiple beam klystrons for two accelerator applications. An eight beam, 50 MW multiple beam klystron is currently being assembled with an eight beam electron gun built and successfully tested on a previous program. It is anticipated that testing will occur during Summer 2005. CCR also completed initial design of a 200 MHz, 5 MW multiple beam klystron for the Tevatron at Fermi National Laboratory. A key issue was the available space for the klystron and power supply, which was a principal driver for the multiple beam approach. Design and performance details are presented.
