Employer Knowledge and Organizational Images: New Insights from Novel Contexts

Much of current understanding on employer knowledge and organizational images has been built on the assumption that information on employers either come from formal information sources that are controlled by the organization (e.g. company websites, job ads, career talks and fairs etc.) or informal third- party sources like personal friends, family, or career advisers. However, recent economic, social, and technological forces have greatly splintered and democratized the way that employer information is communicated, encountered, and interpreted. This has resulted in key stakeholders like job seekers and employees consuming and being influenced by such information in varied ways. Current research has thus failed to keep up with the pace of these changes, where many of the complexities and nuances involving image and its predictors and outcomes remain poorly understood.
