Women Empowerment – Policies and Schemes in India

2020
The Third goal to the Millennium Development Goal framed by UN is directly related to the empowerment of women.   The MDGs are agreed-upon goals to reduce certain indicators of disparity across the world by the year 2025.  The empowering women is realized as the core issue in deciding the status of women.  The constitution not only grants equality to women but also empowers the state to adopt measures of positive discrimination in favour of women.  The access of women, particularly those belonging to the weaker sections including schedule tribes- majority of whom are in the rural areas and in the informal, unorganized sector-to education, health and productive resources, among others is inadequate, and that is why they are marginalized and live in poverty.
