Conflictos ambientales: nuevas miradas y desafíos para su abordaje
2018
Environmental conflicts are a common denominator in the region
and they are in the process of growth. This is due to the exponential
use of natives assets in an expansive and extractive development
model.
In direct proportion to the implementation of this model, social and
cultural movements organize and multiply different actions to face
the “inconsulto” advance sometimes indifferent to the local needs
and identities, sometimes secretly because of the fear of social
reactions.
In all cases, the lack of capacity to manage structural and episodic
socio-environmental conflict, manifests bluntly and at very high
costs for the governability.
Conflict transformation and environmental justice approaches
come to contribute in the looks that we have on the complexes
conflicts and also in the possible approaches to channel them in a
constructive way. They also give us light on the role they different
stakeholders can play to achieve that goal.
This framework of thought and work is being traveled by different
actors of the multipart dialogue in the region, and international
organizations already promote initiatives to make it possible..
