Making Iron-Flux Briquettes from Finely Dispersed Waste Products for Use in Steelmaking

2014
Technologies have been developed for recycling all of the fine-grained wastes formed in metallurgical production operations at the Severskii Pipe Plant. The wastes are recycled into iron-flux briquettes. The optimum compositions of the briquettes were determined and industrial batches of briquettes were made and tested in an open-hearth furnace and 5-ton and 135-ton electric-arc furnaces. The results show the economic and environmental expediency of briquetting fine-grained industrial waste products and using them in steelmaking.
