Energy storage control algorithm for suppression of fluctuation of wind farm output power

This paper presents a proposed storage system control algorithm. It relies on maintaining a certain power level for 10, 30 and 60 second intervals. Conducted simulations, which are based on real 1-second wind farm output power data show the method's performance and SOC level of considered lithiumion storage system's over the simulated 14 days. Based on SOC levels during system operation for various C-rates a recommendation is given for best suited energy storage technologies depending on length of power stabilization.
