Web-based education for professional advancement

Summary form only, as given. The asynchronous nature of Web-based instruction allows professionals to take university courses "any place, any time, and any pace". This paper reviews the objectives and development of a Web-based classroom at Portland State University. Such courses address the needs of engineers who have difficulty attending the traditional classroom.
