Scheduled profile at TSO/DSO interface for reducing balancing costs

2019
In the last years, Distribution System Operators (DSO) and Transmission System Operators (TSO) are encouraged to exploit the flexibility of the Distribution Energy Resources and obliged to purchase services from their customers. The contribution of Distribution Energy Resources in the ancillary service markets depends on the market model adopted. In this paper, the market model named scheduled HV/ MV exchange profile market model is investigated; in this model, the DSO have the new role of balancing the demand and production at its voltage level and is responsible for guaranteeing a scheduled program at each HV/ MV interface, without offering ancillary services to the TSO. The paper proposes a methodology for assessing the potentiality of distribution network to guarantee a scheduled profile at the TSO/DSO interface and the risk of not respecting such expected profile. The results of the proposed methodology applied to a real size distribution network are presented.
