Quantifying the interfacial dzyaloshinskii-moriya interactions from spin-waves

Skyrmions and chiral magnetic domain walls have attracted large interest recently. The underlying interaction of these chiral magnetic phenomena is the interfacial Dzyalosinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI). The interfacial DMI can be found in systems where a ferromagnet is in contact with a material with large spin-orbit coupling as for example Pt. Such systems enable novel memory and logic devices that are based on the interaction of a material with large spin-orbit coupling and a ferromagnet.
