The results of studies of the control parameters of critical availability of engines are given. It was developed a two-step control algorithm, which reduces the time required to assess the state of the controlled object. Parameters control parameters of critical availability of engines were selected. The preliminary experiments to study the possibility of applying the control parameters for the current starter when scrolling engine and optical parameters were done. The results of vehicles control using the two-step algorithm are given. Studies have shown that the use of selected parameters of critical availability control allows controlling the normal life of the engine as well as the state of emergency to avoid its work, with a significant reduction in the time control
