integrated process for producing alcohols from a feeding process a mixture of acids

2011
Processes for producing alcohols such as ethanol and propanol in an integrated from a raw material consisting of a mixture of acid process. In one embodiment, the process comprises the step of carbonylating methanol in the presence of a carbonylation catalyst to form a raw material consisting of a mixture of acids comprising acetic acid and one or more higher acids, preferably comprising propionic acid. Feeding the acid mixture is hydrogenated in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to form a crude alcohol product comprising ethanol and one or more higher alcohols, preferably including propanol.Reivindicacion 2: The process of claim 1, wherein in the carbonylation a crude product with acetic acid, wherein the process further comprises the steps of forms: separating the crude product with acetic acid in a unit partial evaporation by reducing the pressure to a subject to partial evaporation stream and an catalyst recycle; and separating, in not more than one separation column, under the current partial evaporation to give a distillate comprising an alkyl halide and an alkyl acetate and a residue comprising feeding a mixture of acids.
