El patrimonio como representación del “nosotros”. El caso de Argentina

2017
Jukka Jokilehto has researched in depth the concept of value, applied to cultural heritage, and how such values have evolved over time, ranging from the discourse related to national identity all the way to the concept of “outstanding universal value”. In his article “Heritage values and valuation” he presents values as “layers of perceptions” and concludes that it may be more appropriate to evaluate the impact, rather than the value of heritage, while making reference to the public or shared values as a basis for protection policies. This article explores the manner in which such identification and valuation of heritage have developed in Argentina, particularly in reference to the role heritage has played in the construction and consolidation of a national identity.
