Polygon Patch Antenna For UWB And RADAR Applications With Notched Filter Characteristics Realized by inverted T-type stub

2021
In this research article we have proposed parametric study of a compact antenna with UWB applications. The antenna consists of a nonagon (9 side polygon) shape patch with a rectangular ground plane on one side, a radiating patch on the other side made of the FR4 substate (ϵ r =4.4) and a microstrip patch line that feeds the radiating patch, also a square slot has been etched into the radiating patch and an inverted T filter has been stubbed to the radiating patch to reduce the interference from the existing IEEE WiMAX band from 3.3GHz to 3.8GHz. The size of the antenna is only 20x28x1.6mm3 in dimensions. The proposed antenna is simulated on the HFSS software and the results obtained indicated that the antenna can be used for the UWB applications till 6.85GHz. In this region this antenna will have low losses below -10dB and suitable gain for the applications stated.
