Thermal decomposition kinetics of N,N′-dianilino-adipamide β-nucleating agent

2013
The thermal decomposition kinetics of N,N′-dianilino-adipamide β-nucleating agent in air were studied based on thermogravimetric analysis, derivative thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis. The apparent activation energy of the thermal decomposition process for the title compound was calculated through analysis of its decomposition kinetics by Friedman and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa(FWO) equations, and its thermal decomposition mechanism was studied with Achar-Brindly-Sharp and Coats-Redfern equations. Moreover, the lifetime equation at 10% weight-loss of the title compound was deduced by isothermal thermogravimetric analysis. Results show that the title compound has an apparent activation energy of 138.66 kJ · mol-1,and its thermal decomposition mechanism follows Mample function.Namely, its kinetic equation can be expressed as G(α)= α3/2,and its lifetime equation is expressed as lnτ=-51.877 + 2.922 2×104/T while the reaction order is n=3/2.
