Squamous cell carcinoma of the feline thymus with widespread apoptosis

Abstract The present report documents a case of squamous cell carcinoma originating from the thymus of a 12-year-old short-haired male cat. The tumour had metastasised to the sternal lymphoid tissue and to the left lung. To the authors' knowledge, thymic carcinoma has not been reported in domestic animals. Furthermore, extensive apoptosis was observed in the tumour mass.
